X5 HazLo

The X5 HazLo is a UL-listed, Class I Division 2 hazardous location VFD.

Based upon Vacon's X-Series VFD, the X5 HazLo was modified to operate in classified CID2 atmospheres. The compact VFD is available in carbon steel - painted safety yellow, or 316 stainless steel. The enclosure is rated NEMA Type 4X / IP66 for use indoor or outdoor while operating in temperatures from -10ºC to 40ºC.

The drive supports input voltage of 480V or 575V, 3-PH with power output of 10 HP to 100 HP normal duty / variable torque. The X5 HazLo is passive-cooled and does not require purged-air to operate. The drive can be installed close the motor / application within the classified area. The benefits include greater installation flexibility, improved operator efficiency and safety through direct access to VFD operation, reduced installation costs and prevents technical issues like motor harmonics due to long-motor lead lengths.


Features

UL-listed, Class I Division 2 (CID2)

The X5 HazLo is certified by UL to comply with ANSI / ISA 12.12.01 "non-incendive electrical equipment for use in Class I and II, Division 2 and Class III Division 1 and 2 hazardous (classified) locations. The X5 HazLo is also approved per CAN / CSA C22.2 for Class I Division 2 hazardous locations.

The X5 HazLo VFD can be installed directly within the rated area without being fitted inside a larger Type 7 enclosure and without purged-air to operate. The drive can be operated immediately as there is no purge-startup delay.

Enclosure

The X5 HazLo is a stand-alone, wall-mounted VFD, suitable for indoor or outdoor use. The enclosure comes in carbon steel - painted safety-yellow, or 316 stainless steel for enhanced corrosion resistance. Both models are Type 4X / IP66 rated.

Operating Temperature

The X5 HazLo is designed to work in all-weather conditions. The drive is rated to operate -10ºC to 40ºC. For extreme cold, the drive has a feature called 'Arctic Mode' which uses the built-in brake resistor to function as a warming heater.

No temperature de-rating required up to 50ºC. No air-conditioning required

VFD Programming

The drive offers a PLC-like 25-step program sequencer. With support for macro’s using loop and branch capabilities. Programming and drive operation can be performed via the HMI and keypad. The HMI offers a bright, two-line, back-lit LCD panel.

USB Port for Backup / Parameter Transfer

The drive includes a USB port to allow fast parameter save and recall. The USB can be used for programming multiple drives. VFD data can be saved to the USB and opened with Microsoft Excel. The USB port is also used for firmware upgrades.

Real-Time Clock Function

The VFD includes a real-time clock (RTC) to control operation based on time-of-day. As an example, you may have different program settings for different days of the week or weekdays vs weekends.

Communications

The X5 HazLo includes ModBus RTU via RS 485 as standard. Additional protocols can be supported via optional add-in cards:

  • 115 Vac and encoder feedback (order code X5OPT01X)

  • DeviceNet (order code X5DNET01X)
  • ModBus TCP/IP (X5MBTCP01X)
  • ProfiBus (X5PROFI01X)
